Nostalgia Night: CONcERT for The Pirandello Theatre Society

You’re Invited to the Pirandello Theatre Nostalgia Night!

 

It will be a fun evening of classic Italian and American songs, classic opera arias, excerpts from the works of Pirandello, and much more. Attached is more information about this community fundraising event, bringing together The Pirandello Theatre Society and Eloro Social Club.

The evening will feature performances by:

Singer and Master of Ceremonies

Diana Di Mauro is a vocalist from Toronto. Performance highlights include Cherubino in Mozart’s, Le Nozze di Figaro, at Teatro Mancinelli in Orvieto, Italy; Holiday Jazz at Opera North, Leeds, UK; Mother Marie in Poulenc’s Dialogues of the Carmelites, Toronto; L’Enfant in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortileges, Toronto; Mrs. Nolan in Menotti’s The Medium, Montreal; Lola in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, Italy; Zerlina, in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Italy; Serpina in Pergolesi’s, La Serva Padrona, Italy; Susanna in Mozart’s, Le Nozze di Figaro, Toronto; Mary Magdalene in Frisina’s, Emmanuel God with Us, Toronto, New York; Musical Director Conan and the Stone of Kelior. Kimberly Ann

Kimberley Ann is an actor who writes, directs, and produces! She is a graduate of both the 3 Year Conservatory Program at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and the Neighborhood Playhouse Summer Conservatory in New York City. NYC highlights include playing Margery in Vinegar Tom, Gertrude in Hamlet, and The Friar in Romeo & Juliet. On Toronto Stages, she’s played Tess in The Female of the Species, Mrs. Daldry in In The Next Room and Jessie Mae in The Trip to Bountiful. Alvaro Vazquez

Tenor

Mexican Tenor Alvaro Vazquez graduated from the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto obtaining a Voice performance diploma. Alvaro made his debut with Mississauga Symphony Orchestra and Opera York singing the role of El Remendado from the opera Carmen by Bizet conducted by Denis Mastromonaco. Most recently in 2023 he performed the role of Monostatos in Opera Yorks production of Magic Flute and debuted the role of Nemorino from the opera L’elisir d’amore. In 2024 he will be participating as a tenor soloist with York Symphony Orchestra for a night of Opera Arias in February 2024 and will be performing the role of Elder Hayes in the Opera Susannah with Toronto City opera and Borsa in the Opera Rigoletto with Opera York.

felicia valenti

Felicia is an Italian-Canadian actor and soprano, currently starring as Queen Gertrude in Hamlet with 9M Theatre. She is thrilled to be performing today! As a multi-disciplinary artist, Felicia loves collaborating and works as an actor on stage (Tales of the Grotesque, Ether), in video games/animation (Assassins Creed, SuperWish!), as well as on camera in film and tv (most recently, Cruel Intentions). As a singer, Felicia has sung in opera (Adina in L’Elisire + others), was the frontwoman of an indie band UnHRDof, has sung on soundtracks, and has run her own voice studio since 2011. Beyond performing, Felicia is an indie film producer (most recently – J’ACCUSE! with her production company Demonic Cookie Films), has won international awards for voiceover, and continues to study voice and theatre. She shares a cozy space with her husband, their cat Luna, and a jungle of houseplants.

Laura Raffin

Soprano

Italian-Canadian soprano Laura Raffin is a graduate of The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music where she earned a Voice Performance Diploma and a Bachelor of Music (Thompson Rivers University). Ms. Raffin also has a Bachelor of Education from York University. Laura has performed in various operas, operettas and musical productions such as Don Giovanni (GGS), The Magic Flute (SOLT), La Belle Hélène (GGS), The Cunning Little Vixen (GGS), Les Misérables (CCAA), and The Merry Widow (Opera York).  On Thursday, February 29th, 2024, Laura looks forward to performing with “The Tenors” member Alberto Urso in his show and dinner at Venu Event Space in Vaughan. Laura is thrilled to be performing with The Pirandello Theatre Society in “Nostalgia Night”!

 

Ardavan Taraporewala

Baritone

Ardavan Taraporewala is a Persian-Pakistani, multi-disciplinary artist. His international performance career has taken him to Dubai, Pakistan, New York, Chicago, and Toronto, where he has shared the stage with Broadway and COC veterans. He made his film debut in 2023, with principal roles in Leveled and Switched at Death, along with his directorial debut at the Toronto Fringe, with Transit. He sang the role of Jeremy for the original Canadian concept album of Bound! The Musical, and recently portrayed Anthony in Doctor Bird’s inaugural production of Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd. He is also the Music Director of the Asha Choir, a Persian ensemble working to bring to light the music of Persia and the Zoroastrian diaspora. He is thrilled to be performing some Italian gems tonight.

Jonah Nung

pianist

Jonah is a Toronto-based music director and pianist. Recent credits include Grease (Mainstage Theatre Company), Ordinary Days (Shifting Ground Collective), A Perfect Bowl of Pho (Send Noods Productions), and The Last Piece (Shreya Jha). Outside of musical theatre, Jonah works as an accompanist and piano teacher. He has also composed music for Sammi Zhang’s short film Long Distance (S21E33 of CBC’s Absolutely Canadian) and Mashreka Mahmood’s original musical WANT (Victoria College Drama Society).

zoltan czetner

Zoltan (Zoli) Czetner is a self-taught musician. In his youth growing up in Schomberg ON, he was inspired by Elvis and 1050 CHUM (Radio). He spent countless hours playing the guitar, recording, performing… Usually with a band, he believes music is always better when you make it with other people!
